FIGHT
MEADOW CHALET 4 DAY SNOWSHOE TRIP - FULL SERVICE
On
this four-day trip we explore the vast area of meadows and mountains
around the Fight Meadow Chalet. The terrain is very diverse ranging
from flat sub-alpine meadows to steep slopes. The emphasis on this
trip is education and exploration. Fight Meadow is a great place
to practise winter route finding and avalanche awareness skills.
As the days progress, you will too!
Day
1:
We meet in Clearwater and drive to the heli-pad on Wells Gray Road
for a fantastic flight to the Fight Meadow Chalet. After settling
in, the guide will take you on a tour of the terrain behind the
chalet where you will become familiar with the use of your avalanche
transceivers and begin learning about present snow conditions.
Day
2:
We break trail south across Fight Meadows and climb up onto Fight
Mountain and Cariboo Ridge to see incredible views into Stevens
Lakes and Indian Valley. These places are seldom visited in the
summer and in the winter the vast emptiness of the area is inspiring.
Day
3:
We head up onto Battle Mountain to get a taste of steeper terrain
and more open alpine country. Here we focus our attention on avalanche
awareness which takes in snow conditions, weather, and route finding
skills. You will find winter on the top Battle Mountain to be truly
inspiring.
Day
4:
Snowshoe Ski out to the Wells Gray Park road. This is a six to seven
hour ski through an alpine meadow system and down the valley slope.
The change in the forest from the plateau to the valley bottom makes
the trip very interesting.
