DAY HUT TO HUT TOUR & TURN SKI TRAVERSE - FULL SERVICE
TROPHY - DISCOVERY HUTS
Day
1: We meet at your accommodation in Clearwater. After leaving
a vehicle at the trail end, we drive to the snocat which is parked
eleven kilometers up the Wells Gray Road. After an hour snocat ride,
you ski the last three and a half kilometers into Trophy Mountain
Chalet. The chalet is located on the southern slopes of the Trophy
Mountains at 7000 feet. The skiing from the front door is excellent
as the terrain is fairly steep and the snow is deep. Today we take
an easy ski to get familiar with the equipment and surrounding area.
Day
2 & 3: Lots of skiing in the Trophy’s, both in the alpine and
in the trees, this area has complex terrain with numerous chutes,
couloirs, and aspects. We can start with intermediate runs through
scattered forest and, if we are up the challenge, continue to progress
to more and more challenging slopes. Which ever we choose, we are
certain to find some fluffy powder to play in.
Day
4: You traverse up over the Trophy Mountains, then ski the powdery
north aspects into the Valley of the Lakes. Here you have lunch
and skin up for the ski to the top of Eagle Pass. From Eagle Pass,
it is a lovely downhill run into Moul Basin and Table Cabin, which
rests at 6,350 feet. Table is a brand new squared log cabin nestled
in the wood overlooking a subalpine meadow, This is challenging
terrain and the ski will take five to seven hours at a leisurely
pace.
Day
5: Incredible skiing on the northern slopes of Table, Discovery,
and Trophy Mountains. The hidden Moul valley is known for having
powdery slopes well into spring. Each day we choose our favorite
slopes to ski and each evening make the downhill run to the cabin’s
backdoor for a great supper.
Day
6: We ski up the east flank of Table Mountain. If the day is
fine, we make the short trip to the summit for gorgeous views of
the Monashees, Cariboos and the northern portion of Wells Gray Park.
We now have a downhill ski to the head of the Phillip Lakes where
we have lunch. From here we tour through the forest until we reach
Phillip Lake and the marked trail. The last portion of our day is
down a narrow road that has been groomed, making the trip to the
valley bottom at 2400 feet a fast one.
Note:
You will be required to carry some food (approximately 3 kilos)
to Trophy Chalet and then on to Table Cabin. This trip includes
excellent and hearty meals and snacks, CANSI (Canadian Association
of Nordic Ski Instructors) and CAA (Canadian Avalanche Association)
certified guides, chalet accommodation, transportation from Clearwater

a towel!

11 km. up the Wells Gray Road. After the hour snocat ride, we ski
the last three and a half km into Trophy Mountain Chalet. The chalet
is located on the southern slopes of the Trophy Mountains at 7000
ft. The skiing from the front door is excellent as the terrain is
fairly steep and the snow is deep. After lunch, we ski a couple
of runs around the chalet to become familiar with the equipment
and surrounding area.
Day
2: Explore the ski runs in the Trophy Mountains, both in the
alpine and in the trees. Most of the skiing here is intermediate
and the terrain is complex, with numerous chutes, couloirs, and
aspects.
Day
3: We traverse up over the Trophy Mountains, drop into the Valley
of the Lakes and cross Eagle Pass into Moul Basin. Our destination
is Table Cabin, which is at the head of the Moul drainage. It is
a brand new log cabin that sleeps ten. This is challenging terrain
and the ski will take five to seven hours at a leisurely pace.
Day
4: Powder skiing on the northern slopes of Table, Discovery,
and Trophy. The terrain right around the cabin is amazing with wonderful
fall lines.
Day
5: We continue the traverse up and over Table Mountain and across
Caribou and Fight Meadows to Fight Chalet which sits at the head
of a 13km. long subalpine meadow system at 6400 feet. This day will
take six to eight hours at a leisurely pace. These beautiful meadows
are truly inspiring, high open and surrounded by mountains.
Day
6: We explore the Fight Meadow area, including Battle Mountain
and 52 ridge. This fantastic place has something for everyone. If
we’re up to it, and the weather is co-operative, our goal is the
view from the summit of Battle Peak and the exhilarating ski down!
Day
7: We ski out to the Park road. This is a four to six hour ski,
which crosses the edge of the alpine plateau and then heads down
the side of the valley to the valley floor at about 2400 feet.

to Trophy Chalet and then on to Table Cabin. The Fight Meadows Chalet
